A vestige of Old Paris, located at 95 Rue Saint-Honoré, La Renommée unfolds in a historic building dating back to 1823. Formerly known as “À la Renommée des Herbes Cuites”, this place has been transformed into a chic restaurant by the American group Hogsalt, well known for its unique gastronomic addresses. Preserving the authentic facade was paramount, and the interior atmosphere immediately transports us to a plush and luxurious universe worthy of the 19th century. From the entrance, one is greeted by an enchanting scent of scented candles and notes of jazz music.

An exceptional setting

The main dining room is decorated with authentic woods, period chandeliers, and dark leather banquettes. The walls are adorned with baroque paintings and refined floral tapestries, adding a touch of European character to the ambiance. A true visual and sensory journey takes place as soon as one lays eyes on this decor. A special mention for the hosts who display remarkable hospitality, making the experience even more memorable.

The speakeasy in the basement

In the basement, La Renommée reveals a speakeasy-style bar. One can relax on plush velvet sofas to enjoy the house’s signature cocktails. Spirits lovers will not be disappointed with a richly stocked menu, led by the talented sommelier Lucie Fara.

A menu blended with Franco-New York influences

The menu at La Renommée pays homage to French cuisine flavored with New York influences. Classic French dishes such as Burgundy snails, Landes foie gras, and classic lamb navarin sit alongside more American dishes like the West Village double cheeseburger and New York aged steak.

The variety of fish and seafood is impressive: sole meunière, wild turbot, hollow oysters, and grilled langoustines will delight seafood lovers. The plates are generous and flavorful, perfect for celebrating the art of living the French way.

Our gastronomic experience

For our part, the green asparagus accompanied by a hollandaise sauce won us over. The roasted chicken from Bourbon was absolutely divine, and the mashed potatoes were as good as the morels in cream. The prices may seem high, but they undeniably reflect the quality of the products and the service offered.

Must-try desserts

To conclude this meal beautifully, we highly recommend the pistachio and strawberry sundae, topped with fresh wild strawberries. It’s truly a favorite. The Valrhona chocolate mousse, sprinkled with chocolate shavings and fleur de sel, concludes this culinary experience on a perfect note.
